AAU Baseball National Championship
takes to the mounds in Kingsport

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The second of three baseball events sponsored by Hardee's and Restaurant Management Group this summer in Kingsport kicks off Friday, July 14. Eighteen teams from across the country will meet in Kingsport to battle for the national title during the AAU Baseball 15 & Under National Championship.

The Kingsport Convention & Visitors Bureau (KCVB) will host teams from Massachusetts, Florida, South Carolina, Ohio, Louisiana, Virginia, Indiana, Tennessee, Georgia and New Jersey. This year's host team will be the Tennessee Seminoles. The KCVB is expecting more than 350 players and a total of about 2,000 visitors here for the tournament.

Opening ceremonies will take place Friday, July 14, at Hunter Wright Stadium at 6:30 p.m. The tournament will be played at Weyerhaeuser Park, Sullivan South High School, Sullivan East High School and Davy Crocket High School.

This is the fourth sporting event of a record six events this year for Kingsport and the second of three baseball tournaments. After this tournament, baseball action will continue on July 22-28 with the 2006 USSSA Baseball 14 & Under 60/90 World Series. All three events are sponsored by our good friends at Hardee's and RMG.

The AAU tournament action will begin Saturday July15, at 9 a.m. with a day of double headers. The championship game will be held on Thursday, July 20. The full tournament schedule including teams, pools and brackets can be found at http://www.aaubaseball.org/tournaments/schedule.asp.

Tickets are $8 a day for adults and $4 for children. Weekly passes are $35 for adults and $15 for children. Children 5 and under are free. Tickets can be picked up at the ballparks or by calling the KCVB at 423-392-8820.
